Don’t Restrict, Replace!

Hey friends!

When I started my plant-forward journey, I didn’t overhaul my whole diet. I learned that if I make it too hard for me to start, I won’t be able to sustain it for long.

Why Swap Meat?

Plant-based proteins often come with less saturated fat and more fiber. Plus, they’re packed with a lot of nutrients too. There's always a plant-based substitute for almost every meat dish.

Top Meat Swaps to Try

Lentils for Ground Beef: Perfect in tacos, Bolognese sauce, or shepherd's pie. High in protein and fiber, lentils are a nutritional powerhouse.

Tempeh for Chicken: Marinated and grilled tempeh makes a fantastic substitute for chicken in salads, stir-fries, and sandwiches

Jackfruit for Pulled Pork: Young green jackfruit has a meaty texture ideal for BBQ pulled pork sandwiches.

Mushrooms for Steak: Thick slices of Portobello mushrooms, marinated and grilled, can be a great stand-in for steak.

Cooking Tips

1. Seasoning is Key: Use your favorite herbs and spices to mimic the flavors of meat dishes.

2. Texture Matters: Experiment with cooking techniques like grilling or sautéing to achieve a meat-like texture.

3. Get Creative: Don't be afraid to try new ingredients and combinations.

Lifestyle Integration

1. Start with Familiar Dishes: Swap meat in recipes you already love.

2. Plan Your Protein: Ensure you're getting enough protein by including a variety of plant-based sources.

3. Explore Plant-Based Cuisines: Many cultures have delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. Use them for inspiration!

A couple weeks ago, I posted this video on YouTube titled: Why some people look healthy on unhealthy lifestyles. I was genuinely curious about this topic and I’d like to expand on that a little more in this letter. I've always been fascinated by those who seem to defy health norms—smoking, indulging in fast food, yet radiating vitality. How? Initially, I thought it was sheer luck or genetic jackpot. But diving deeper, the reality unfolded. Youth can mask the toll of such habits, and...

You may have noticed that I haven’t been posting short videos consistently on Instagram and Facebook anymore. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about my journey on social media. It's been a wild ride, though it’s only been a few months since I decided to take this hobby a little bit seriously. Today, I want to share some of that with you, especially about some big changes I'm planning to make. For a long time, I tried to be everywhere at once. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Threads –...
